June 17th, 2017 marked the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Twin Oaks Community. Activities and events began during the week and continued through the weekend.
This event was a reunion for ex-members and other people connected to the community. Attendance was by invitation, not open to the general public. Approximately 350 people attended -- the largest gathering we've ever hosted.
More content and some photos will be posted here soon.
50th Anniversary Program (582 KB)
Twin Oaks StoryCorps-like event.
You may have heard of StoryCorps, popularized by NPR, where two people who know each other well talk about a time in the life of one of them. We had our own Twin Oaks StoryCorps-style Booth operating at 50th Anniversary, and gathered some ex-members stories of when they lived here. (This was an independent production, not connected with NPR nor with the StoryCorps non-profit organization https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StoryCorps).
Several recordings were made, but as of early 2018 editing has not been done. After editing, we expect to publish some of the recordings on this webpage (where the participants gave the OK for public use.)
Long-term member-gardener-blogger-author Pam Dawling was the organizer for this event.
